Alec Dean

Alec Dean was a guest character in 1990. He was the uncle of Blake and Karen Dean. He was played by Norm Galton.

Backstory

Alec was the older brother of Margot Dean and was a farmer. He disapproved of Margot's decision to bring up her children Blake and Karen on their own - he believed she should've given them up for adoption.

1990

When Margot died of cancer in 1990, Alec reluctantly brought Blake and Karen to live with him. Things didn't go well. Alec was a person who much preferred his own company, and he was certainly not on the same wavelength as his niece and nephew. Inevitably there was a falling out. Blake and Karen decided to go in search of their mother's former prison cellmate Ailsa Hogan and see if she could take them in. Alec followed Blake and Karen to Summer Bay in Episode 591 with the rest of their luggage. He made it clear to Alf and Ailsa that he was glad to be rid of the pair and said they'd be much happier living with them.

Alec was mentioned in 1991 after Blake and Karen returned from visiting him. They noted that they were getting on far better with him now that they weren't actually living with him.
