Andrew Foley (Peter Bensley)
Andrew Foley was a recurring character in Home And Away between March 1988 (Episode 46) and March 1990 (Episode 490). Andrew was a teacher at Summer Bay High School, later reinventing himself as a youth counsellor. He was played by Peter Bensley. Although he made regular appearances throughout most of 1989 and into 1990, he never made the opening credits.
Backstory[]
Andrew Foley was born in 1958 to Andrew Foley Snr and Julia Foley. He trained as a teacher upon leaving school.
1988-1990[]

Andrew took a job at Summer Bay High School. Things became complicated when 17 year old Carly Morris developed a crush on him and he seemed to reciprocate on some level. When he was spotted comforting Carly, he was left with no choice but to leave the school.
Andrew returned to Summer Bay in March 1989 and started to romance Carly. This didn't go anywhere which is probably just as well. He and headmaster Donald Fisher didn't always see eye to eye, with Don thinking that his teaching methods left a lot to be desired.
He changed career and became a youth counsellor. He began to share a flat with Stacey Macklin and eventually their friendship turned into a relationship. They got engaged but broke up when Stacey realised they were too different to make a relationship work.
In March 1990, Andrew was appointed as a temporary teacher at Summer Bay High but was replaced by Grant Mitchell. Realising that there was nothing left for him in Summer Bay and that it was time to pursue his career elsewhere, Andrew moved away.
