Backstory[]
Angel Brooks was born on the 13th March 1975 to Raymond Brooks and Sarah Brooks. She had a younger sister Frankie Brooks born 3 years later. In 1989/1990 she had a relationship with Paul Harris . Aged just 14, she gave birth to their son Dylan. The relationship ended and baby Dylan was taken in by Paul's mother. In 1993 Angel ran away from home because life there had become intolerable.
1993-1996[]

Shane and Angel
Angel arrived in Summer Bay, homeless. She ripped Shane Parrish off by selling him fake Frente! concert tickets. Shortly afterwards, she fell ill and was hospitalised. Damian Roberts, who had befriended her, asked his foster mother Pippa to take her in. For once, there was no room in the ever-expanding Ross household so Donald Fisher took her in instead.
Despite their rocky start, Angel and Shane became a couple. She returned to school and became good friends with Sarah Thompson. In 1994 Shane did work experience at Yabbie Creek Police Station (where his older brother Nick was stationed) and gained access to the computer system. He found out about Angel's secret son. This news drove a wedge between them at first but later, Shane supported Angel when she decided to go in search of Dylan. Dylan's grandmother Anne was very hostile towards Angel and didn't want her grandson to see him at all.
Angel completed her HSC and did well. She opted not to go to university but to stay in Summer Bay with Shane. This troubled Shane's mother Ros who felt that her son was holding Angel back from fulfilling her potential. Angel was an enthusiastic writer and penned a murder mystery to mark Damian's departure to university in the summer of 1994. A guest at the Summer Bay Caravan Park happened to notice her work and paid her to write a murder mystery for his wife's birthday. She earned the princely sum of $100 for her efforts.
She and Shane got engaged and hoped that being married would help her chances of gaining custody of young Dylan. Some months before the wedding, she was hit by Alf Stewart's car and was left wheelchair bound. To everyone's surprise, she managed to get out of her wheelchair and walk down the aisle on her wedding day. She and Shane moved into a small house, after having spent their courtship living under Donald Fisher's roof.
After the wedding, Angel gained custody of Dylan. Unfortunately things didn't run smoothly (do they ever?). Shannon Reed developed a crush on Shane and made a pass at him. Despite Shane rejecting Shannon's advances, she led Angel to believe that they had been having an affair. Angel left Shane and boarded a seaplane bound for the city. It crashed in the bush and it took a while for the survivors to be found. Wracked with guilt, Shannon came clean about her lies. Angel and Shane got back together again. Angel then realised that somebody was stalking her. It turned out to be her ex boyfriend Paul, who was Dylan's father. Shannon saved the day by rescuing Angel from his clutches.
Angel was devastated when Dylan was diagnosed with leukaemia. At first she thought about having a baby with Paul so that it could be a bone marrow donor for the little boy. That plan didn't come to pass because Angel discovered she was pregnant with Shane's baby. Dylan underwent chemotherapy and recovered from his illness. Towards the end of 1995 Shane was knocked off his motorbike and had to have his spleen removed. This turned out to have devastating consequences for them. On their first wedding anniversary, Shane, Angel and Dylan went for a picnic. Shane fell ill and collapsed. He died in hospital, from sepsis resulting from a small cut to his hand. After Shane's death, Angel received a lot of support from Sergeant. Chris Hale.
A month after Shane's death, Angel went into labour during a storm. She wasn't able to travel to hospital because the bridge crossing the river had been swept away. This same storm/flooding claimed the life of Pippa Ross's husband Michael that night. Despite the trying conditions, Shannon and her boyfriend Alex Bennett managed to get Angel to Summer Bay House, guided by an unidentified biker. Pippa helped out with the birth of Angel's baby girl. She named her Shane. Angel believed that the mysterious biker was Shane's spirit and this helped her find comfort in his death.
In March 1996, wealthy Englishman Simon Broadhurst travelled to Summer Bay to investigate Shane's accident. The culprit was revealed to be Sgt. Chris Hale, of all people. Chris resigned from the police force. Simon admitted to Angel that he had fallen for her but she was not yet ready to move on from Shane. Simon returned to England. Meanwhile, an old classmate of Angel's came back into her life. Joanne Brennan pretended to be a friend of Angel's but quickly turned against her when she refused to give her some money.
Angel continued to live in the house she and Shane had rented, but it was destroyed in an earthquake. She began to question if it was time for her to move on from Summer Bay. When Simon returned, she realised that she loved him too. Things didn't go without a hitch, because Joanne Brennan had returned to Summer Bay and was sneakily undermining Angel's fledgling relationship with Simon. Still, it all worked out in the end. After visiting Shane's grave for one last time, Angel and her children moved to England to live with Simon. In late 1999, Simon briefly returned on his own to help Donald Fisher raise money for his son Byron's cancer treatment. He revealed that he and Angel had married and now had a son of their own.
