Arthur Edward "Eddie" Dunglass was a minor character in 2000. He was seen only on a grainy old video cassette recording, because by 2000 he was long dead. He was the father of Edward Dunglass and had been Judith Ackroyd's lover.
As a young man Eddie attended university with Donald Fisher. Later on, he married but had an affair with Judith Ackroyd. Unfortunately he developed Huntington's Disease when Edward was a young child. Huntington's is a devastating condition and unfortunately, the children of a parent who has it have a 50% chance of developing it.
In 1985 Eddie recorded a video for his son and asked Judith to give it to him if he too was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease. Already visibly ailing from his condition, Eddie encouraged his son to live his life to the full. Judith had never watched the video and had no idea what was on it. At first, Edward was furious that she had kept it hidden from him for all this time. When he calmed down, he decided to take his father's advice and went travelling.
Eddie was played by the late Peter Sumner.
