The Beachside Diner was opened in 2000. It was the successor to the Bayside Diner, which was accidentally burned down by Colleen Smart. It was opened by Alf and Ailsa Stewart and like its predecessor, provided employment for many locals. Leah Patterson became manager of the diner.
Like its ill-fated predecessor, the Beachside Diner fell victim to one of the many disasters which befall Summer Bay. In 2007 the building was deemed to be structurally unsound after an earth tremor. It had issues dating back to the 1996 earthquake which had caused a lot of damage in the area. The building was last seen onscreen in 2008. It was succeeded by the Summer Bay Pier Diner which remains in use to this day.
