Bill Fitzgerald was a minor character in 1991. He was the father of Simon Fitzgerald, who moved in with Alf and Ailsa Stewart. Bill was played by Terry Bader.
Bill's wife died in the 1980s, leaving him to raise Simon on his own. He had a history of being a con-man, so when he arranged a business deal with Alf and Ailsa, Simon warned them. A furious Bill hit his son. After being exposed for his dodginess, Bill decided it was time to move on from Summer Bay. Simon opted to stay behind and moved in with the Stewarts and his new friend Blake Dean. Bill was later imprisoned for fraud.
When Bill was paroled in July 1992, he wrote a letter to Simon asking him for another chance and for him to join him. Simon decided to leave and go live with his father.
