Dr Gordon (1995)

Charles William "Bud" Tingwell AM (3 May 1923 - 15 January 2009)[1] was an iconic Australian actor, director and producer. In 1995 he played Dr. Gordon, who treated Angel Brooks when she was hospitalised after being hit by Alf Stewart's car.

Pre H&A Career[]

Charles 'Bud' Tingwell was born in Coogee, NSW on 3 January 1923[2]. While he was still at school, he began to work as a radio announcer. In 1941, the 18 year old Bud joined the Royal Australian Air Force. He trained as a pilot and flew planes during some of the campaigns during WWII. He was finally demobbed in 1946. He began to work as an actor and appeared in some early Australian TV productions. He worked in Los Angeles but opted to return to Australia.

In the 1950s he moved to the UK and remained there until 1973. Some of his more notable credits included parts in Catweazle, Z Cars and The Avengers. He lent his voice talents to Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet & the Mysterons. He also acted on stage in the UK.

Back in Australia, he appeared in over 120 episodes of Homicide as Inspector Reg Lawson. Moving into the 1980s he appeared in The Sullivans, Prisoner, GP, A Country Practice and many more TV shows. He also became known for his appearances as Gramps in 'Charlie the Wonder Dog' on The Late Show.

In 1995 Bud appeared in 8 episodes of Home and Away. He played Dr. Gordon who treated Angel Parrish in hospital after she suffered spinal injuries.

After H&A[]

Bud appeared in The Castle, All Saints, Round the Twist, The Secret Life of Us, Something in the Air, Neighbours and Blue Heelers. His final role was as Sandy Wilsoncroft in Bed of Roses (2010). Bud died from prostate cancer in 2009.
