Christie Hayes (born 31st October 1986)[1] is an actress and radio presenter played Kirsty Sutherland/Phillips between 2000 and 2005, and again in 2008 and 2009. Christie also played Kirsty's biological twin Laura DeGroot in 2004.
Biography[]
Christie Ayrna Lynne Hayes grew up in North Nowra. She began acting at the age of 8, and performed in over 20 plays at her drama school. She later attended the McDonald College for Performing Arts in Strathfield and majored in drama. In 2000 she was cast as Maria in the family adventure series Search for Treasure Island.
Home and Away (2000-2005, 2008-2009)[]
Also in 2000, Christie was cast as Kirsty Sutherland. She had previously turned down the role of Dani Sutherland (her character's older sister), because she was uncomfortable playing someone three years older than herself. In 2004 she played Kirsty's twin sister Laura DeGroot in a "separated at birth" storyline. She left Home and Away in October 2004 in order to travel and her final scenes were aired in February of the following year.[2]
She returned to Home and Away in May 2008, though this time as a recurring character. She left at the end of 2009.
After Home and Away[]
Christie continued to act and also worked as a model, appearing in advertising campaigns for Pepsi, Miki House and Jeans for Genes. In 2019 Christie appeared in 9 episodes of Neighbours as Ebony Buttrose. In 2017 she began co-presenting the Marty, Christie & Crammy breakfast show on i98FM. She is now half of the breakfast radio presenting team “Dan and Christie” on Hobart’s HIT 100.9[3]
