Daniel and his son David
Daniel or Danny Roberts (born 1966, Perth) [1] has to date played three guest characters on Home and Away. He first appeared in 1997 as Ailsa Stewart's brother Tony O'Rourke. He had a more substantial role in 2011-2012 as dodgy developer Dennis Harling. He returned in 2015 as Gavin Cooper, Nate Cooper's alcoholic dad. Danny is also the father of David Jones-Roberts, who played Xavier Austin from 2008 to 2013.
Biography[]
Danny grew up in Perth and moved to Melbourne in 1982. While still a teenager, he was cast in two soaps. The first was the short-lived Waterloo Station (1983). He then landed the role of Andy Green in Sons and Daughters and remained with the show until it ended in 1987. After this he travelled to the USA and met his future wife Lindsay Neil. They went on to have two children, including David Jones-Roberts.
In 1989 he joined the cast of another soap -The Power, The Passion but this one was short-lived too. When it was cancelled after just 8 months, he moved to Byron Bay where he founded the Australian Theatre Company in 1991. He was artistic director of the company until 1995. Alongside this, he continued to act on TV. He had roles in shows such as Fire, Blue Heelers, Murder Call, Water Rats and Rescue: Special OPs. He played James 'Jimbo' Egan in two series of Underbelly. In 2013 he played Macca in the first instalment of the Mystery Road franchise. Most recently he played Grayson Raxter in the Netflix series Tidelands.[2]
