David Croft.
David Croft was a minor character in Home And Away in 1991. He was the nephew of Donald Fisher and the father of Sophie Simpson's daughter.
David was played by former Neighbours actor Guy Pearce who has gone on to have a successful acting career both in Australia and internationally.

David was born and raised in Perth. His mother Mary was a sister of Donald Fisher and his sister was Lucinda Croft (she of the seemingly never-ending Nick/Ryan/Lucinda love triangle)

Backstory[]
David grew up in Perth and was good friends with Ryan Lee. He, Ryan and his sister Lucinda used to hang out a lot as a trio. Prior to coming to Summer Bay, David worked in financial services and got a bit cocky. He convinced his parents to make some risky investments. It went disastrously wrong and his parents lost their home. To repay the money to his parents, David went working in the mines.

David came to Summer Bay hoping to reconnect with his uncle Donald and to build bridges with his sister Lucinda. Lou was still very angry at what he had done to their parents and it took her a little while to forgive him. David turned 26 while he was staying with Donald.
He befriended 16 year old schoolgirl Sophie Simpson and helped her nurse an injured cockatoo back to health. The pair became friends but he seemed to be oblivious to how much Sophie liked him. Once she kissed him, it turned out it wasn't a one way thing. Just about everybody in Summer Bay was horrified and opposed to them being together. At first he even agreed to break up with Sophie and to leave without seeing her again. He changed his mind and they decided that they wanted to be together no matter what anybody said.
Sophie's foster mother Pippa made an agreement with Sophie, saying that if she was prepared to go to stay with Pip's mother for 2 weeks, she could freely date David when she came back. Pippa was hoping that 2 weeks away from David might cool Sophie's infatuation.
David decided to leave town while Sophie was gone. They agreed that they would meet at 10am in the Diner on the day of her return. This never came to pass. While he was leaving Summer Bay, his car was struck by a stolen one being driven by Karen Dean. David was killed in the accident and his funeral took place in Perth. Sophie didn't find out about his death until she got back from Pippa's mum's house. Her foster father Michael had decided against telling her before she was back home and had her family around her for support. Several weeks later, Sophie found out she was pregnant with David's child and went on to give birth to a baby girl called Tamara.
