David Wikaira-Paul
David Wikaira-Paul (born 30 January 1985) [1]is a New Zealand born actor and musician who played Kiri Parata in 2022 and 2023.
Biography[]
David made his TV debut in 2001 when he joined the cast of Shortland Street. He played 14-year-old Tama Hudson, a high school student. By then, David had already left school and had graduated from Northland Polytechnic with a Certificate in Applied Arts, Music and Drama. While attending the school, he played the lead role in their production of Te Ngaru Nui. He began acting in theatre productions before moving to Auckland. He was cast as Tama in Shortland Street and became well known in New Zealand. His character was especially popular amongst younger viewers.
David is also a talented musician. During his time on Shortland Street, he wrote several songs for Tama to perform on the show. His hip hop group Medical Clan won the prestigious South Side Gig in both 2000 and 2003. In 2006 he competed in the New Zealand version of Dancing with the Stars. [2] He has also appeared on other New Zealand reality TV shows.
In 2002 he appeared in the New Zealand produced movie Mataku and in 2013, Mt. Zion.
