Emily Symons as Marilyn (2021)
Emily Symons was born on 10th August 1969 in Sydney [1] She is best known for playing Marilyn Chambers, who first appeared on TV screens back in 1989. Emily moved to the UK in 1999 and joined the cast of Emmerdale in 2001. She played barmaid Louise Appleton from 2001-2008.
Pre Home And Away career[]
Emily's first TV role was on the short-lived soap Richmond Hill which ran for a mere 91 episodes in 1988. She played Anne Costello in the second half of the show's run, appearing in over 50 episodes. She also had an early appearance in the TV movie Computer Ghosts.
Home And Away (1989-1999)[]
Emily landed the role of Marilyn Chambers and began to appear on the show from May 1989. Originally the girlfriend of dim-witted Lance Smart, Marilyn went on to become a much-loved resident of Summer Bay. Emily left H&A in 1992 and moved to the UK for a time. She re-joined the cast of H&A in 1995 and remained on the show until 1999. She moved to the UK again and lived there for a decade. In 2001, she reprised her role as Marilyn in four episodes set in London.
Emmerdale[]
Emily in Emmerdale
In 2001 Emily made her debut on British soap Emmerdale. She played Australian barmaid Louise Appleton who worked in the show's legendary pub The Woolpack. She appeared in well over 300 episodes over the next 8 years before her character moved back to Australia. One of Emily's more notable storylines was when she killed an ex-boyfriend who had been stalking her by hitting him over the head with a vase. The murder was covered up and her character was never charged with anything. Emily left the show in 2008 to move back to Australia.
While living in the UK, Emily competed in Dancing on Ice but was voted out early on. She appeared twice on the celebrity version of the TV talent show Stars in their Eyes. In 2003 she performed as Rosemary Clooney and in 2005 as Cher.
Home And Away (2010-[]
Emily returned to Australia and in 2010, re-joined the cast of Home and Away. She has remained on the show ever since. To date she has appeared in over 2,000 episodes. Emily is active on Instagram and sometimes posts behind the scenes photos from Home and Away [2]
