Synopsis[]
Aunty Jean takes a bow
Sophie notices her hairdryer has stopped working and asks Michael if he can repair it. He says he might, later on. It's obvious he is miles away in his head and more concerned about moving his stuff into the house. Sally and Sophie are really disappointed. Tom would've fixed the hairdryer on the spot and taken them all out to dinner. They wonder if Michael wants them at all or is stuck with them because he married Pippa. Michael brings the first armful of clothes into what will be his and Pippa's bedroom. He's suddenly less confident because he senses he's on another man's turf. Pippa assures him that although there are a lot of memories in that room, she's sure he'll provide her with a whole lot more ;-)
Reluctantly, Revhead agrees to go to the police. Julie assures him that although she wants to make new friends she still needs him. On the way, he pays a visit to Nick and tells him what he is going to do. He hasn't changed his mind about him being friends with Julie, though Nick assures him that all he wants to do is get her out of the house.
Pippa finds out from the girls about Michael's plan to take her out to dinner and their belief he doesn't want them. She has a word with him - he is oblivious to all that has been happening. He apologises to them and explains that he is out of practice at doing things as a family. Cynthia thought the kids were a nuisance so they rarely went out to dinner with them. He offers to cook for everybody that night and fixes Sophie's hairdryer.
Marilyn's Aunty Jean finally makes an appearance. Maz brings her into the diner where she complains about the dreadful music and won't have any of their nice cake because of the calories. She introduces her to Bobby and Ailsa and is soon telling them about how she rescued Marilyn from a children's home. Marilyn had assumed that she and Jean would share a bedroom at the Beach House but soon she finds herself borrowing a fold-up bed from the Ross's. She will be spending the night in the living room. Jean also finds time to complain about Bobby's cooking and leaves the table because of the dreadful taste in her mouth.
Nick collects the bed from the Ross's and Michael helps him carry it out to the car. While he is outside, Sally tells Pippa she is really glad she married him. Pippa is too. The next morning, Pippa and Michael wake early and the conversation soon turns to what they might do with the hour they have to spare. Luckily for everyone's sake, they are interrupted there and then by Sally and Sophie bringing them breakfast in bed.
Poor Marilyn hasn't slept well at all after her night on the fold-up bed. Bobby wants to know how long she intends to stay but their conversation is interrupted by Jean coming downstairs. She chides Marilyn for still being in bed and complains about how soft Marilyn's mattress is. She wants to ring Nick at work to tell him to put a board under the mattress but that train of thought is interrupted when she finds out there are only teabags in the house. She tells Marilyn they have to go shopping.
Bobby is becoming less and less impressed with Aunty Jean as time goes on. She tells Alf that if Marilyn doesn't ask her to leave, she and Sam will move out.
