Synopsis[]
Dear John....
Sophie spots Revhead waiting for the bus and notices that Karen is nowhere to be seen. He tells her that he is leaving for the city by himself. Sophie calls him gutless for not telling Karen to her face. Karen, in the meantime, has found the letter he left for her at his house. When Alf and Ailsa make it to Revhead's house, they find her sitting in an armchair still trying to figure out what just happened. Alf is almost beside himself with fury so Ailsa tells him to go back to his shop. She will handle this herself.
Tracey is full of praise for Sally's project on the police. Sally thinks it is time to have a new family photo taken and Pippa agrees. They don't yet have one with Michael and Haydn either. Sophie isn't particularly enthusiastic and says they don't know yet how long Tracey will be staying for.
Ailsa tries to console Karen over what happened but she is having none of it. She blames Alf and Ailsa for why Revhead left without her. They drove him away because they wouldn't let her see him. She will never forgive them for that.
Nick and Marilyn are worried about Bobby. Sam hasn't written to her yet and she is doing nothing but working lately. They decide to organise a picnic for her but she sees straight through their plan. Eventually they guilt her into agreeing to go, though she is still reluctant. Later on, Bobby suggests they should also invite Margaret and Marilyn agrees. Nick isn't so happy about that and thinks it'd be like inviting his mother along.
Sophie goes in search of Karen, hoping to console her. Unlike Karen who blames Alf and Ailsa for Revhead's departure, Sophie thinks he dumped her. Instead of telling her face to face, he left her a letter. Karen is furious and still says he loves her and will contact her when he gets a job.
At the diner, Blake and Sophie discuss Karen. They are joined by Tracey. Blake is happy for her to sit down at their table but Sophie won't stay. She deliberately spills the last of her milkshake on her. Blake has a word with Sophie later. She insists Tracey has had it in for her since they met but Blake thinks it is the other way around. Tracey tries to offer an olive branch to Sophie but she furiously rejects that. Bobby and Blake are obviously taken aback by the vitriol of Sophie's response.
When they are back in their room, Tracey admits to Sophie that she was trying to make herself look good and that she wants everyone to like her. Sophie is buying none of it and tells her to pull the other one. The next morning Sophie has had a change of heart and says there is no point in them arguing with each other. The conversation is overheard by Pippa who is delighted that they have agreed to be civilized.
Karen has accepted that Revhead is gone but it doesn't stop her from getting annoyed at Ailsa. She tells her she is only living with her now because she has nowhere else to go. She will never trust her again.
