Synopsis[]
Revhead is back in town, briefly. He tells Karen that they need to leave as soon as possible because the police are on to them. He asks her to steal a car and thinks the one that Blake and Haydn own is perfect. She can lay her hands on the keys for it easily (no hotwiring required) and because it isn't driven very often, it won't be missed straight away.
Back on the street, Adam falls into conversation with Karen and expresses concern for her. She isn't impressed and tells him to go away. The whole exchange makes Adam uneasy. He later confides in Matt that he thinks Karen was involved in the break-in at the shop.
David and Sophie say their goodbyes. She gives him a tape that she has recorded and they arrange to meet at the diner in two weeks time. He then goes to the diner where he tells Bobby he plans to go up the coast and do some camping. It'll also give everyone at home a chance to calm down. Before he leaves, he has a cup of coffee with Nick. Nick is looking for some inside information on how Lucinda behaves in relationships because he's at a loss as to how to proceed. David then goes home and says his goodbyes to Donald. He gets into his car and before very long, is listening to Sophie's tape.
Karen goes to the caravan park and steals the car. Her driving skills haven't improved since her previous stint behind the wheel and it's stalling and jumping along the road. Adam spots the stricken car and gets in. He wants to know why Karen is driving her brother's car and they start to argue. As Karen continues to drive, she loses control of the car at a junction and collides with David. His car leaves the road, rolls down a bank and flips over. When it comes to a stop he is lying motionless in the upturned vehicle.
Pippa and Sophie leave Summer Bay, starting their journey to Pip's parents. As they drive, some police cars with sirens and flashing blue lights pass them on the road. Little do they know what drama is unfolding.
At the crash site, Karen seems to be OK but a bit shaken. When Nick asks her who was driving the car, she says it was Adam. Adam is badly injured and unconscious. David is dead.
