Backstory[]
Evelyn MacGuire and her brother Oscar were twins born to Ethan MacGuire and Sarah Wilson in 1997. Evelyn was born two minutes older than Oscar, something she liked to remind her brother about. After Sarah died, Ethan and the twins moved away to live with a cult called Sanctuary Lodge.
2013-2017[]
Evelyn was first seen in 2017 when her uncle Zac MacGuire paid a visit to the Sanctuary Lodge retreat. Her aunt Hannah Wilson had become concerned that her brother-in-law, niece and nephew had been brainwashed by the cult. She wasn't wrong. Although Zac and Hannah made some progress getting through to Oscar, Evie had very much bought into the ethos of the cult. She was unimpressed when Zac had the Braxton brothers rescue her and Oscar from the camp. Zac and Ricky Sharpe took Evie camping, hoping they would get through to her. It didn't work and she returned to the cult and to her father. She was about to turn 16 and had been told that the occasion would be marked by a "life changing event" (uh oh!). In the meantime she befriended newcomer Spencer Harrington who had joined the group, hoping it would help his bipolar disorder. They realised that they were going to be forced to marry when Evie turned 16. When the marriage ceremony was about to take place, Spencer stood up to the group. He was taken away and badly beaten for his troubles. Evie and Spencer were rescued by Zac and Hannah and she was presuaded to hand her phone footage over to the police. The cult leader Murray Granger and her father Ethan were arrested.
That wasn't the last either was to see of the cult. A few months later, Evie and Oscar were attending a music festival when their father Ethan showed up. He kidnapped the twins along with Kyle Braxton who had tried to stop him. Ethan revealed that he was restarting the cult and wanted his children with him. He locked all three into a shipping container and headed for the hospital where Hannah worked as a nurse. He told her not to worry about the twins. Before he could leave, a bomb exploded in the hospital and he went into cardiac arrest. Despite Hannah's best efforts to save Ethan, he died. Meanwhile, the three captives were still trapped in the container and conditions were becoming very unpleasant. They were rescued by Zac, Hannah, Casey Braxton and Tamara Kingsley.
