George and Heather Davidson

Meet the Parents

Marilyn and Bobby go to meet the other couple who answered the advertisement. A battered old car, towing an equally decrepit looking caravan pulls up. A pair of bogans emerge and introduce themselves as Heather and George Davidson. Heather produces an old photo of herself and her sister Jean. To Marilyn's horror, it is her auntie Jean that's in the photo.

Lucinda has a windsurfing lesson with Matt but spends most of it ranting about Nick. She is also starting to come down with a cold. While Matt is driving her home, he is caught for speeding by Nick and Sgt. Chris Hale. Later in the diner, she and Nick meet by chance and have another argument.

Tracey is convinced Sophie is up to something but isn't sure what just yet. Karen points out that she and Sophie used to be best friends. Tracey tells her she is her friend now and that the two of them will get Sophie next time. When Karen comes downstairs, she warns Sophie that Tracey is on to her. Sophie simply tells her that they were friends for a long time but no longer have anything to talk about.

George and Heather are now back at the Beach House and give the impression that they're casing out the joint. When quizzed by Bobby and Marilyn, it turns out that they were in showbiz and that having a child didn't suit their lifestyle. They're currently "resting" and George seems to be faking a dodgy heart to get an invalid pension. They make it clear they want to stay with Marilyn. She has probably never been so glad that her house is full. She goes for lunch with them and ends up footing the large bill at the end. Tearfully, she confesses to Bobby that she thinks they're terrible and that she doesn't trust them. Bobby agrees with her and reminds her that she doesn't have to have anything to do with them.

Sophie is hanging out in the Beach House too much for Bobby's liking. She asks Margaret is she sure what she is doing. Margaret says she does and that at the moment Sophie needs a shoulder to cry on. She shows Sophie a couple of leather-bound old Shakespearean plays that she owns. They're not collector's items but are of sentimental value to her. She loans them to Sophie. When Sophie gets home, Tracey spots the books and learns that they belong to Mrs Lynch.

Marilyn's parents find out from Pippa that a night's stay in the Caravan Park is $20 so they decide to park outside the Beach House instead.

Meanwhile, Max and Heather have come to dinner with Marilyn. They tell her that they have decided to move to Summer Bay to be near their daughter. Before Marilyn has a chance to break the bad news to them, her real parents come into the house.
