Meet the Parents
George and Heather Davidson (née Chambers) were Marilyn Chambers's biological parents. They were seen briefly in 1991 when she went in search of them and got more than what she'd bargained for. They were played by Doug Scroope and Lynn Rainbow.
Backstory[]
The Davidsons were travelling entertainers. They soon decided that parenting their young daughter didn't fit well with their lifestyle. They put Marilyn into a children's home and seem to have cut all contact with her at that point. Marilyn lived in the home for several years before she was taken out by Heather's sister Jean. Marilyn was led to believe by Jean that her parents had died.
1991[]
In 1991, Jean came to stay with Marilyn but the pair fell out. As a parting shot before leaving Marilyn's house, Jean told Marilyn that her parents hadn't died after all but had simply dumped her in the children's home. Hoping to find her parents, Marilyn put ads in every national newspaper in Australia. Two couples answered the ad. To Marilyn's disappointment, the nice couple she wanted to be her parents weren't the right people at all.
Her actual parents - George and Heather Davidson - turned out to be very different to their daughter. They were a pair of unpleasant, workshy layabouts who lived in a battered old caravan. George was claiming an invalid pension for a dodgy heart but it was implied that his ticker was fine. It quickly became obvious that they still didn't care for their daughter very much but saw her as somebody to sponge off. A disheartened Marilyn gave them their marching orders and decided against making contact with them again.
