1992 was Home And Away's 5th year in production. This year saw the famous beachside scene where Meg Bowman lost her battle with cancer while in Blake Dean's arms.
The regular cast remained fairly stable throughout the year, with only Marilyn Chambers, Lucinda Croft and Simon Fitzgerald departing for pastures new. We were re-introduced to Damian Roberts and his mother Irene, both of whom had been seen briefly in 1991. Other new faces to the regular cast were Shane Roberts and Roxanne Miller.

Des Monaghan was Exec Producer throughout this year. This was his last season in his role. He was to be succeeded by Andrew Howie.
Storylines[]
- Bobby Simpson was briefly tempted by ex-husband's Frank's romantic overtures. In the end, she turned him down and got engaged to Greg Marshall.
- Sophie Simpson discovered she was pregnant with David Croft's child. The news of this didn't go down well at home, leading her to run away to the city for a while.
- Donald Fisher moved house. An old flame of Alf Stewart's - Julia Bowman - moved in with her teenage daughter Meg.
- Meg and Blake Dean began a relationship, though not without opposition from her over-protective mother. Meg was terminally ill with leukaemia and she later learned that her time was limited. She and Blake made the most of what she had left. This included them spending the night in a hotel in Sydney and sailing on a tall ship. Meg died in Blake's arms on the beach in early April.
- Finlay nearly got chucked out of Summer Bay house when she began seeing obnoxious surfie Randy Evans.
- Lucinda Croft's ex Ryan Lee returned to Summer Bay, still determined to win her back. It descended into a love triangle, with Lucinda unable to decide whether she wanted her fiancé Nick Parrish or Ryan. She cheated on Nick with Ryan, something Nick found hard to get over.
- Finlay Roberts's younger brother Damian ran away from home, closely followed by their mother Irene. After some trouble from Irene, she accepted that both her children were better off being fostered by the Rosses and that she needed to get her own life together.
- Nick Parrish's rebellious younger brother Shane came to Summer Bay looking for him.
- Shane clashed with Damian, getting him into trouble and jeopardising his chances of being fostered by the Rosses. Despite the rocky start, the pair of them became fast friends.
- Bobby Simpson and Greg Marshall got married, though their wedding was delayed because of Sam getting his finger caught in a plughole
- Sophie gave birth to a little girl called Tamara but despite help from Pippa, struggled with being a single mother.
- Pippa discovered she was pregnant.
- Marilyn fell in love with widower Phil Bryant, the father of an exchange student staying with Alf and Ailsa Stewart. Phil asked her to marry him and she left to live with him in the Bush.
- Sophie quit school and took a job working in an office. She was sexually harassed by her boss but eventually reported him for his bad behaviour.
- Simon Fitzgerald moved away to live with his dad
- The Nick/Lucinda/Ryan love triangle finally came to an end, with nobody ending up with anybody. Nobody cared.
- Blake Dean's long-lost father Les Bagley came in search of him. At first, Blake's head was turned by his flashy dad and he moved to the city to work in his pub. Blake came to realise that his father wasn't a nice guy at all and decided to cut contact with him.
- While in the city, Blake learned that he had a half-sister called Roxanne Miller. When he returned to Summer Bay, Roxy came with him.
- Shane Parrish clashed with local bully Tug O'Neale (who would become a regular in 1993). This led him to Tug framing him for a burglary. Because Shane had already been in trouble with the law, it looked like he was destined for a spell in a remand centre.
- Being a single mother didn't get any easier for Sophie and she decided to ask Tamara's grandmother to adopt her.
