Kate Ritchie

Kate Ritchie (born 14th August, 1978) played Sally Fletcher from Home and Away's pilot episode in 1988 until 2008. She made some guest appearances in 2013. She is now better known as a radio presenter[1], a judge on Australia’s Got Talent and as a children's author[2].

Katherine Leigh "Kate" Ritchie was born on 14th August 1978 in Goulburn, New South Wales[3] Prior to her debut on Home and Away, she appeared in 3 episodes of the 1986 TV Mini Series "Cyclone Tracy".

Aged just 9, she appeared in the pilot episode of Home and Away. She remained on the show for the next 20 years. Although she has not appeared on Home and Away for several years, she is still one of the longest serving actors on an Australian soap opera[4] In 2007 and 2008, she won the Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian TV.

After Home And Away[]

Kate left Home and Away in 2008 and has confessed that she felt lost for a while[5] after leaving the show. In 2006 she appeared in the TV Movie Stepfather of the Bride. In 2009 she appeared in two episodes of Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities and was nominated for an Australian Film Institute Award for Best Guest or Supporting Actress in a Television Drama.

She began a new career as a radio presenter on Nova 96.9 in 2008. She left in 2009 to resume acting. She played the lead role in Cops L.A.C. but the series was cancelled after just one series. She returned to Radio Nova in 2013 and has remained there ever since. Kate has also written some children's books.

In 2022 Kate joined the judging panel of Australia's Got Talent, alongside Shane Jacobson, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon.

In 2023 Kate returned to acting, starring in the TV drama The Claremont Murders[6] alongside Erik Thomson

Kate's most famous on-screen boyfriend has to be the late Heath Ledger. In 1997 he appeared briefly as bad boy Scott Irwin.

Kate has remained close to actors Debra Lawrance and Dennis Coard who played her foster parents in the 1990s. [8]
