Pre Home And Away career[]

Home And Away[]

As Sarah Thompson (1994)
When auditioning for the part of Sarah, Laura knew that the character was a good girl who lived on a farm with her father. Knowing this, she went to the audition wearing little makeup and dressed conservatively. One of the other actors who auditioned for the role was Ada Nicodemou who was later cast as Leah. During her time on Home and Away, Laura's character was best known for her relationship/friendship with Tug O'Neale. She was also good friends with Angel Brooks (later, Parrish), Damian Roberts and Shane Parrish. Her on-screen father was the late Jeff Truman who combined a career as an acclaimed screenwriter with that of a character actor. Generally a sensible young lady, Sarah briefly broke bad when she had a fling with bad boy Nathan Roberts. She also had an amusing storyline where she permed her hair and it went horribly wrong. Laura was written out of the show in 1994 along with fellow regulars Tristan Bancks (Tug), John Adam (Luke Cunningham) and Lisa Lackey (Roxanne). She briefly returned to the role in Ep 4000 (8 Jul 2005).
After Home And Away[]
Laura made an American telemovie called The Beast with CSI actor William Peterson, Then she was cast as a semi-regular on American TV series The Lost World which was filmed on the Gold Coast. She had guest roles on American TV series Flipper and Beastmaster and was cast in the theatre production of Dags. She also did 2 guest roles on Australian TV show All Saints. She did commercials for Dettol, Dolmio, Liptons Tea, McDonalds, Splenda, Nestlé, and Ski Yoghurt and presented a beauty segment on Channel 10’s The Circle. She also spent a year in the UK presenting shows It’s Just Not Saturday, Not Fade Away, The Essential Guide to Summer and The Games Room.[4]
Laura quit acting in the early 2000s and trained as a beautician. She began working on the set of Home and Away as a freelancer in 2015 [5] and in 2020 was promoted to head of the department. She posts regularly on Instagram if you want to keep up to date with what she has been doing.
