Lou De Bono (David Roberts)
Lou De Bono was a minor character in 2009. He appeared from Episode 4783 to Episode 4825. He was played by David Roberts.
Lou was the owner of a prawn trawler which had supplied fish to the diner for several years. He met and began to date Irene. Things things seemed to be going well between them until she was confronted by Lou's ex-wife Donna. They were separated but not yet divorced and she was not happy about the new couple. Lou admitted to Irene that Donna was holding out for a better divorce settlement and this had stopped him divorcing her. If it hadn't been for this, they'd have divorced long ago. Irene learned that Donna had hired a private detective to follow her and Lou on one of their dates.

Lou impresses Irene with his yacht
Understandably, Irene didn't want to get involved in a messy situation like this so she broke up with Lou. Lou persuaded Annie Campbell to tell him where Irene had gone and he went in search of her. He showed her his fancy yacht and persuaded her to come away with him on an extended sea trip. Irene agreed and they sailed out of Summer Bay in Episode 4825.
This turned out to be an ill-fated journey for Lou. He was shot dead at sea by Derrick Quaid, though it took some time for the truth about this to come out. Irene, in the meantime, was left to man the yacht alone until she was rescued. She was suspected of Lou's murder for a while but acquitted. Lou's ex-wife Donna also came under suspicion.
