Mavis Hickie (neé Waters) was an unseen character. She was the mother of Colleen Smart but had a secret. Although she was married to Merv Hickie, her daughter Colleen was actually the result of an affair with Gordon Stewart (Alf's dad).
Biography[]
Mavis Waters was born in about 1915. In mid-1939 she slept with Gordon Stewart on the eve of his wedding to Sarah Jane Townsend. Shortly afterwards, Mavis discovered she was pregnant. By now Gordon was married to Sarah, so Mavis seduced Merv Hickie. They married shortly afterwards. Mavis lied about the dates of her child's conception, meaning Merv believed he was about to become a father. Baby Colleen was born in May 1940.
