Merv Hickie was an unseen character who was the adoptive father of Colleen Smart.
In 1939 he slept with and married Mavis Hickie. He was led to believe that the child Mavis was carrying was his child. However, it was all a ruse. Colleen had slept with Gordon Stewart right before his wedding. Realising that she pregnant and was running out of options, Mavis seduced Merv and lied about the conception date. Merv raised Colleen as his own child.
