Very exciting news for fans of Donald "Flathaad Fisher". i must admit i was a huge huge fan of NORMAN COBURN, who was one of 16 original characters of Home and Away back in the day, even though he was a nasty charater early in the piece, Coburn was such a brillaint actor who played the role of Donald so well, it is obvious why he became so iconic and they kept him there in the role for the next 15 years , Norman stated his career in Great Britain , (so he must have loved the episode of "Home and Away" where they filmed in London, must have felt like going Home) .i would have loved to have seen some of this actors early work in England, Norman stated that his was a time then there was not so many good roles for Australian actors, so if you wanted to become an actor, or at the least get very good parts the thing to do back then was to hop on a ship headed to England. In 2019, he returns to television in Australain soap opera/serial Rosehaven, screened on ABC, the serial is set in the fictional town of the title and filmed in Tasmania, Norman now reside's on Bruny Island, Tasmania, so he obviously fought it would be a good oppurtunity. Now retired, it is he's first role in 11 years and he is 82 now,
Hello, thank you for the information on Lynne Davenport, she was my favourite character when the show first started, i am puzzled as to why she was written out, the producers stated at the time "that because it is such a large cast, some of the characters get lost, and dont appear on screen for some time" . it was later with regret, her characters background sounded interesting, even more so than some of the other foster kids. After she left they said her characters was taking a break, and would return soon to be involved in some major storyarcs, however it didnt eventuate, and she left the acting behind, according to one site "Back to the Bay", when they had the reunion special for Alfs 60th birthday and the settlement of Summer Bay storyline, the others, (Alex Papps , Adam Willits , Sharyn Hodgson and Kate Ritchie, plus Sheila Kennelly, Fiona Spence and Greg Benson) returned but the reason why Helena Bozich didnt feature was the producers and writters where actually unable to track her down.
hello Benny, regarding my edits and updates, please let me know if there is something you are not happy about,? so we can adjust it to your liking, because you make all the decisions, and whislt you have done a good job, mate, and a lot of work, we have to make sure we cite everything.
Benny, if you want to find out when someone was born or be at passed away, you can search on ANCESTY.COM for example i found the true date of birth here for actress JESSICA NOAD she was Coral King in Home and Away, but had previoulsy been better known as Edna Ramsey in Neighbours . She was born in 1915, previouly her birth was given as 1923-2002, this was by site the internet movie database (IMDb), it is not uncommon for an actor or actress (especially if they are getting up in years), to shave about 5 or 10 years off there age to obtain roles.
Yes that is interesting. Today it is not so easy for actors to lie about their age as we have to provide our DOB for lots of things. I have never been able to find the DOB of Kevin Healy who was in H&A in 1988. I guess 1925-1930. Benny1982 (talk) 16:31, August 11, 2018 (UTC)
hello, yes i was rather puzzled with this one also, i had to search numerous , records everywhere in order to find something, as i peviously had to do with Frank Lloyd (Neville McPhee), as he had not been a famous actor, and his roles were usually subjected to cameos, there had not been much written, same with Kevin Healy, his part in home and away was a "blink and you'll miss it" guest appearance, he usually worked mainly in theatre, original it was given as 1935, which i supected was wrong, the other Bert,Peter Collingwood birth was 1920 (just a side note, no discredit to Healy, but i think Collingwood was the "best of the Bert's), Healy's, birth was given as c. 1925, and i believe i had found wriiten somewhere 1925, on furthur research, going on his parent's name that you gave in your article, i found his 28 December, 1922, this relates to his war service record, as he saw active military service during World War II
back in 1987, veteran actress Gwen Plumb, "cosidered a dame of the entertainment industry" and affectionally known to everyone as "Gwennie" had signed up to appear in the new up-coming soap opera that would be Home and Away, she would appear in the pilot episode as town gossip DORIS PETERS, after which she had to choose whether to stay on cast or appear on another rival series RICHMOND HILL , she would later look back on her decision wondering whether or not she had done the wrong thing, as hill was abruptly taken off air after only 12 months, however by episode 4, a new charcher CELIA STEWART, had figured into the mix, and she is generally considered a younger version of the DORIS PETERS character, although technical not an "original" original, she is generally considered so. Also i read in "Home and Away" behind the scenes she was signed on to the original roster, they had a party at the launch of the series that was put on by the producers for the cast, however Fiona, was working on another project and was unable to attend.
it is yet unclear if the character of Morag Bellingham will be re-cast, probably unlikely as Corny had made the role her own, weird and sad she never received any major awards. She never received any majotr awards fo rher previous series Sons and Daughters either, even though her character became iconic, it had been planned that she be cast opposite Rowena Wallace as he rsister on H&A as they had been in Sons, because the actors chemistery worked so well together. Lets Hope No One Else Become Morag, It Just Wouldnt Quite Be The Same, She Played THe Role So Well, And Offscreen Her FRiends Said She Was Nothing Like Her Just A "Lovely, Friendly, Kind , Humoruous and Warm Lady. The same thing happened with early cast members Sheila Kennelly and Frank Lloyd, they were wriitten out of the show because they wanted to concerntrate more on the younger cast members. Lloyd had said at the time "The producers showed as a document that showed the rating were higher when the kids appeared rather than the oldies". Sheila followed and continues to Stated "It is understandable as it has a great following of youngsters, and its like there reportory training". The producers however where interested in the time that they would bring "Floss sand Nev" back for some guest appearances. Sheila ironically after several years absence returned for the "Sally Fletcher Wedding Storyline arc" in 2000, however as Mr. Lloyd had passed away, it was decided the character not be recast, so Nev passes away "offscreen" from a heart ailment whilst walking he's dog on the beach.
I hope Morag either dies or never returns as Cornelia was Morag. Some remember her more for her Sons And Daughters role but for me she is Morag. Different generation of fans I suppose. I will always think "Morag" when i think of Cornelia. Benny1982 (talk) 17:35, June 10, 2018 (UTC)
