Mud, aka Murdoch Roberts.
Murdoch "Mud" Roberts was a minor character in Home And Away in 1995. He was the ex-husband of Irene Roberts and father of her children Damian, Finlay and Nathan. Mud almost managed to reconcile with Irene but she threw him out when she found out he was a creep who had designs on Selina Cook. He was later murdered.
Mud was played by Tom Richards. He had previously played Graham Lynch, an old friend of Ailsa Stewart's back in 1988.
Backstory[]
Mud married Irene in the early 1970s and had three children with him. It looks like their eldest son, Nathan, picked up his dishonest ways from his father.
1995[]
Mud arrived in Summer Bay in July 1995 and was spotted by chance by Irene while he was mending his car. Although there was still bad blood between the pair, she took pity on him and allowed him to stay in The Beach House. He began to charm his way back into Irene's life and it looked like a reconciliation might have been on the cards. Unbeknownst to Irene, Mud had begun to sexually harass Selina Cook who was Irene's foster daughter. At first, Selina was reluctant to tell Irene what was going on but eventually she did. One night Irene hid in Selina's bed and was horrified when Mud came into the room and made sexual advances towards her. Irene threw Mud out on the spot.
Two weeks later, Mud returned (unseen) to claim half ownership of the Beach House. A bushfire swept through Summer Bay shortly afterwards. Mud's body was found after the fire by Shannon Reed. Althought at first it was thought that he had died in the bush fire, he had actually been murdered. At first Selina was a suspect but a bank receipt from him cleared her name. It turned out that Mud had been killed by Dodge/Brian Forbes, at the request of his former prison cellmate Nathan Roberts.
