Sarah Thompson

Sarah Thompson was a main character who first appeared in January 1993 (Ep 1157) and departed in October 1994 (Ep 1584) . She made guest appearances in 1995 and in 2005 (Ep 4000). Sarah was played by Laura Vazquez. These days, Laura is Head of Hair and Makeup on Home and Away, meaning she has joined a small group of people who have gone from being in the cast to being a crew member.

Backstory[]

Sarah Thompson was born in 1976 and was the only child of farmer Matthew Thompson and his wife Janet. Janet died when Sarah was young, leaving her to be raised by her father Matthew. Although Matthew was a loving father, he was over-protective of Sarah and his views were very old-fashioned. When Sarah's school closed down, she decided to transfer to Summer Bay High School to complete her studies. Matthew reluctantly allowed her to move to Summer Bay but would rather have had her remain on the family farm.

1993-1995[]

Sarah enrolled in Summer Bay High School and became good friends with Angel Brooks and Damian Roberts. Her first boyfriend was Tug O'Neale but that relationship didn't last. They remained good friends after the break-up. While Sarah was mostly very sensible and well-behaved, she ruffled some feathers when she began a relationship with Irene Roberts' bad boy son Nathan.

She lived with Alf and Ailsa Stewart but that arrangement unexpectedly soured in the run-up to her HSC. Alf asked Sarah to keep an eye on Duncan while she was studying at home. She was quite stressed at the time and didn't keep a close enough of an eye on Duncan. Duncan made his way out onto the road and was almost run over by Alf. Sarah's relationship with Alf quickly deteriorated and she decided that it would be better if she moved out. She returned home to her father's farm. Tug had already accepted a job working for Matthew so they sat their HSC together.

In April 1995, Sarah returned to the Bay briefly when Shane Parrish and Angel Brooks got married. In 2002 Alf mentioned that she and Tug had got married and that she was pregnant. Sarah returned in 2005 to celebrate Alf's 60th birthday. Although she hasn't returned since then, never rule anything out. Laura Vazquez is still in the building 😁

Sarah returned in 2005 for the 60th birthday of Alf.
