Scott and Jacko
Scott Hunter was a main character from January 2003 (Episode 3429) to November 2005 (the season finale). He was played by Kip Gamblin
Backstory[]
Scott was born to Jack and Beth Hunter and was the eldest of their five children. He grew up on the family farm. As a teenager, Scott found out by accident that his father was having an affair with Valerie Squires. He decided not to say anything to anybody. He learned later on that his mother knew about the affair too but had chosen to turn a blind eye to it. Jack died suddenly in 2002.
2003-2005[]
Scott was first seen in January 2003 while riding his horse Jacko. He was part of a search party trying to find an ill Alf Stewart who had gone missing. He soon met Dani Sutherland and began a relationship with her. He later purchased the Norfolk Boat Shed, a premises which hadn't been seen onscreen since 1995. The boat shed had previously been owned by Michael Ross, and then by Rob Storey. This brought Scott into conflict with Dani's ex-boyfriend Josh West who wanted to build a development on the land where the boat shed stood. The boat shed was later burned down by Angie Russell.
After a misunderstanding which led several locals to think Scott and Dani were engaged, he decided it was time she met his mother Beth. Things were complicated when an Eastern European woman called Mira Sardelic arrived in the Bay. It was revealed that while she and Scott were at college, they had married so that she could stay in Australia. Mira still had feelings for Scott even though they were now divorcing. When Scott made it clear he didn't feel the same way, Mira left. In April, Scott's younger sister Kit came to town, drunk. It soon became clear she was an alcoholic and eventually, she agreed to take part in a Tough Love rehabilitation programme. Scott left town for a while to be with her while she tried to get sober.
Scott purchased a 50% share in Alf's boat The Blaxland and hired Kane Phillips as a deckhand. What he didn't know was that Kane had raped Dani two years previously. Dani was due to stand trial for running him over. As soon as Scott found out who was, he sacked him. Dani was found guilty and sent to prison but Scott continued to support her. Shortly after her release from prison, the two of them moved in together. In the meantime, Scott's mother Beth and Dani's father Rhys had got together and were now engaged to be married. Understandably, Dani's home (Summer Bay House) had become too crowded.
When Dani was harassed by Felix Walters, a fellow student at Yabbie Creek University, Scott and Kane warned him off. Shortly afterwards, Felix was viciously beaten and hospitalised. Scott and Kane were briefly suspected by the police of having carried out the assault. It later emerged that Felix's attackers had been sent by Viv "The Guv" Standish, who Dani had befriended in prison. Felix continued his harassment of Dani and at one point had his girlfriend tell her that Scott had died. In reality he had just gone on a fishing trip.
While attending the wedding of Noah Lawson and Hayley Smith, Scott and Dani found themselves on the receiving end of some vicious attacks. The nastiest of these was Dani having her hands burned with acid. The culprit was Felix's girlfriend Sarah, who turned out to be every bit as unhinged and vindictive as him. Scott and Dani decided to join Hayley and Noah on their honeymoon trip to Paris (as you do...) but forgot their passports. Upon returning home, they were greeted by Sarah who was pointing a gun at them. At gunpoint, Scott was forced to drive Sarah to Leah Patterson's house. The situation escalated into an armed siege and Sarah eventually shot Noah dead.
After Noah's funeral, Scott proposed to Dani and they began to make plans for their wedding. Dani then got a call from "The Guv" who was terminally ill, in hospital and wanted some help with writing her memoirs. This put a strain on Scott and Dani's relationship and they split up. Dani left Summer Bay and Scott began to drink heavily. In a reverse of what had gone before, his sister Kit came back to help him sort himself out. He decided to travel to Paris with Kit and spend Christmas there.
When Scott returned in the new year, he found himself looking for somewhere new to live. A faulty fan in his house started a fire and burned the place down. He moved in with his mother Beth. Scott became close to Hayley and they slept together. This didn't last because Hayley got involved with Kim Hyde. Scott began to date a girl called Lisa but they split up after he found out she was married. Hayley then learned she was pregnant but wasn't sure whether Scott or Kim was the father. Both men took a paternity test but Kim was believed to be the father. Scott and Hayley resumed their relationship but it soon ended because Hayley decided she wanted to be with Kim after all.
Scott began seeing Amanda Vale, while Hayley and Kim resumed their relationship. When Hayley and Kim got engaged, Amanda realised Scott and Hayley still wanted to be together. She then took a boat out to sea in a storm and Scott followed her. Both went missing and the search delayed Kim and Hayley's wedding. Hayley jilted Kim at the altar, finally deciding it was Scott she wanted to be with after all. After Scott and Amanda were found, she revealed that she was pregnant. This wasn't true but Scott didn't know this yet. Amanda faked an ultrasound and a miscarriage. After he found out, Scott dumped her.
Hayley left town because of Amanda's scheming and went into labour in a secluded location. Scott, Alf and Kim went in search of her and found her. Scott delivered her baby and she named it Noah after her late husband. Scott and Hayley got back together again and decided to move to Paris. Kim was understandably unhappy about them taking his son abroad and fought against it. After leaving a meeting he was hit by a car and admitted to hospital. Here, it emerged that his blood type didn't match baby Noah's. Scott was in fact the baby's biological father. Scott and Hayley then moved away
