Toni Bryant (Kathryn Dufty)
Toni Bryant was a minor character who appeared in Home and Away in 1992. She came to Summer Bay as part of a student exchange programme. Her father Phil had a whirlwind romance with Marilyn Chambers and went on to marry her. She had a holiday romance with Simon Fitzgerald during her short stay in the area. She was played by Kathryn Dufty.
Backstory[]
Toni was born in 1975 and grew up on a property over 1,000km from Summer Bay. Her mother Barbara died when she was young, so she was raised by her father Phil. They lived in a remote location so Toni didn't get to hang around with many young people of her age.
1992[]
Toni took part in a student exchange, something her father was reluctant to agree to. Her stay in Summer Bay looked like it was going to last a matter of hours rather than weeks when Alf and Ailsa Stewart learned that their guest wasn't a teenage lad called Tony. They had Simon Fitzgerald living with them and Alf didn't want hormonal teenagers under his roof. Phil managed to talk Alf around and Toni got to stay.
At first, Toni was very eager to flirt with just about everything in trousers. Living out in the bush with an overprotective father and few social outlets, this was her first chance to let her hair down. Simon found this hard to take because he really liked Toni. Soon, things settled down and the pair began to enjoy each other's company. What neither of them knew was that Toni's father was the one having a more significant romance across town.
Toni's father Phil had a car accident when leaving town and stayed at the Beach House for a few days while the car was being repaired. He decided to stay under the radar and not let his daughter know he was still in town. He and Marilyn became close and became engaged within weeks. It all happened so quickly, Phil didn't have a chance to tell his daughter what was going on. Instead she found out from Sophie Simpson that her father was engaged to Marilyn. At first Toni was shocked and horrified but quickly came to terms with it all. She returned home with her father and Marilyn.
